The Oppo F17 Pro has beautiful architecture and is average in most other fields. When OnePlus Nord is enticing buyers for Rs 2000 more, this isn’t enough.
Oppo’s F-series phones are aimed at the mid-range market and often place a premium on design. The Oppo F17 Pro has a sleek design, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen an Oppo F-series product, as they’ve been focusing heavily on their Reno line-up since last year.
Oppo F17 Pro price in India
With a price tag of Rs 22,990, the Oppo F17 Pro will face tough competition in a segment that also includes the Redmi K20 Pro and, more recently, the OnePlus Nord. Will the F17 Pro’s design goes well with its other features, and will you buy the whole package? Let’s find out in this in-depth Oppo F17 Pro analysis.
Oppo F17 Pro review ( A slim, stunning-looking device )
The slim form factor and gorgeous-looking frosted glass back with a two-tone shine were the first things that hit me when I kept the Oppo F17 Pro in my hands. It’s just 7.48 mm thick and 164 grams in weight. I haven’t had a phone so small in my hands in a long time. Oppo has done so with a quad-camera configuration on the back that doesn’t protrude too far.
Although the phone’s back looks special due to the way the cameras are mounted, cleaning the dust that gathers in-between the gaps will be difficult. The only glossy part on the backside is the square platform on which the camera lenses are placed.
A 220-degree curved edge reaches a glossy metallic edge in a seamless transition at the back. The way the light refracts on the edge gives it a purple hue. On the right, there’s a power/standby button, and on the left, there’s a volume up and down button. Just above the volume rocker is the dual SIM + microSD card tray.
I wasted a half-minute trying to find out which side to insert the tray from because there was no indication. Be careful not to bend the tray by moving it inside.
The top edge has just the microphone, while the bottom edge has the USB Type C port surrounded on the right by a mono speaker and a 3.5 mm headphone jack (yay for a headphone jack, despite such a thin profile).

Verdict and Price in India
On the concept hand, the Oppo F17 Pro is flawless. The phone is stunning to look at and is incredibly slim and compact. You’ll undoubtedly be proud to show it off. The quick charging is impressive, the monitor is fine, and the cameras work well in bright light. The price, on the other hand, may be the F17 Pro’s Achilles heel.
The Oppo F17 Pro is difficult to recommend at Rs 22,990 when the OnePlus Nord (Review) (6 GB RAM version launching this month) offers a 90 Hz AMOLED monitor, one of the best Android skins, and decent cameras for just Rs 2,000 more. The Oppo F17 Pro may have all the AI bells and whistles, but the camera output, with the exception of daylight photographs, is very average.
The Oppo F17 Pro would have been easier to recommend if it had been priced closer to Rs 20,000. Let’s face it, this isn’t the same price range as the Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 range, where even a Rs 500 price difference can be relevant. Unless you just want a sleek handset, the OnePlus Nord is the way to go.
